Malvasia from the Canary Islands – an area that has quitly developed a reputation for outstanding Malvasias since the 1700s. This is Victoria’s flagship wine, made with grapes from vines that are up to 130 years old that are picked and then matured in old oak barrels, on the lees. This wine has the salty sea breeze aroma characteristic of Victoria’s wines, as well as a slightly reductive, flinty note and ripe fleshy fruits. On the palate it’s bone dry, minerally and salty, with dense and pure citrus fruits shining through alongside a herbal note and complemented by the tart acidity. A special bottle of wine that’s as rare and unique as they come.

La Palma, the northwesternmost Canary Island, is a remarkable island known for its striking altitude variations and diverse geological landscapes, making it a fascinating historic viticultural hotspot. Its isolation has meant that the vineyards were mostly sheltered from the phylloxera infestations that wiped out almost all European vines in the early 20th century, meaning the island has many vines dating back all the way back to the 1800s. Victoria Torres Pecis is now the fifth generation of her family’s winemaking legacy, and maintains 7 hectares of vineyards planted with native Canary Island grape varieties. With a focus on organic and low-intervention winemaking, the production is limited and highly sought after, and Victoria’s wines achieve a level of purity and intensity that very few can match.

Origin: La Palma, Canary Islands, SpainVintage: 2022Grape varieties: MalvasíaFood pairings: Asian Food, Fish Dishes, Soft cheeses, Nuts, Vegetarian DishesBottle size: 75clABV: 14%

ORGANIC/ NATURAL/ LOW SULPHITE/ VEGAN
