RED WINE / ORGANIC / BIODYNAMIC / VEGAN / NATURAL / LOW SULPHITE / FRANCE / MALBEC

A gentle yet structured Cahors Malbec, with lively freshness, nuanced undertones and depth. Plenty of the minerality we want from the region, with lean fruit and soft tannins. Just the right amount of oak for structure, but still extremely drinkable.

Origin: Cahors, France

Producer: Mas del Périé

Vintage: 2023

Grape varieties: Malbec

Food pairings: Earthy vegetarian dishes, duck, game or baked dishes

Bottle size: 75cl

ABV: 11.5%

Flavour profile

On the noseFresh dark berries, blackberry skin and plum, with subtle notes of graphite, damp stone and a touch of dried herbs. There’s a restrained, mineral edge rather than overt ripeness.

On the palateLean and precise, with juicy black fruit, gentle acidity and finely textured tannins. The oak is discreet, adding shape and structure without masking the freshness, finishing clean and savoury.

About the Winery

Mas del Périé is the project of Fabien Jouves, one of Cahors’ most influential modern winemakers. Farming organically and biodynamically, Fabien works with low yields, living soils and minimal intervention in the cellar to produce wines that reflect freshness, drinkability and place rather than power.

About Cahors

Cahors is Malbec’s historic homeland, shaped by a continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The region’s limestone plateaux and clay-limestone terraces produce traditionally deep, structured wines with firm tannins, dark fruit and a strong mineral backbone. While Cahors has long been known for powerful, age-worthy Malbecs, a new generation of producers is reinterpreting the style with lighter extraction, earlier picking and a focus on balance and drinkability.

How to pair it

This Cahors Malbec works particularly well with earthy vegetarian dishes, lentils or mushrooms, as well as duck, game or slow-baked dishes. Its freshness and moderate alcohol also make it a great option for richer foods without feeling heavy.
