<p>Coñac Cubano. </p><p>The company first introduced Matusalem Rum in 1872 in Santiago de Cuba, it was known as the<em> “Cognac of Rums”</em>. But after Castro gained control of the country the family producing it went into exile and after many years of inner turmoil the brand is <em>today bottled </em>in the city of Monte Plata in the Dominican Republic. The name Matusalem comes from a Spanish proverb <em>“Esto es mas viejo que Matusalem”</em> — or “It’s older than Methusalah” <em>(an almost ageless 969 year-old from the Old Testament)</em>.</p><p><em>Matusalem Gran 15 Reserva Rum </em>is a solera blended bottling made from molasses and aged for 15 years using the solera system in French oak casks. </p>
