The conditions for the<em> Muscat grapes</em> are ideal and it’s there that the Metaxa Master Constantinos Raptis personally hand-picks the yield of these aromatic and rich grapes every year. <em>METAXA, the Original Greek Spirit,</em> was founded in <em>1888 by Spyros Metaxa</em> who came from a family of silk merchants. A man of good taste and a passionate traveler, it’s no wonder he dedicated his life to fine goods. He built his first distillery in 1888 in <em>Piraeus </em>in the port of Athens. Back in the day, the Spirit was first compared to Cognac and Brandy but it’s almost impossible to classify. So today, it’s recognized as a o<em>ne-of-a-kind amber Spirit from the Mediterranean.</em></p><p><em>Metaxa 5 Stars </em>blends together a d<em>ouble pot-distilled Brandy</em> made from Greek Wines and aged for 5 years in the finest Limousin oak casks, those tasty aged Muscat Wines from the island of Samos, and a mix of Mediterranean herbs and May rose petals. Before the blend is chill filtered and bottled, it’s married and put to rest for 1 year in oak casks. What does this unique Greek Spirit taste like?
