<p>Another incredibly good, incredibly small batch, hand-crafted Spirit from Mezcal Vago with a bit of roasted corn in the mash. </p><p>Mezcal Vago was founded by long-time friends<em> Judah Kuper</em> and <em>Dylan Sloan</em> with the help of Judah’s father-in-law, <em>Aquilino Garcia Lopez</em> who serves as head Mescalero. They exported their first bottles to Texas in 2013 and have worked hard to build a sustainable operation focused on <em>small farm operators</em>. In 2018 they partnered with <em>Samson & Surrey</em> — an established Spirits distributor in America to gain access to more markets in the US. They have expanded their line of small batch, authentic Mezcal across four family producers with more to come.</p><p><em>Mezcal Vago Elote</em> is crafted by Mescalero Aquilino Garcia Lopez in the village of Candelaria Yegolé. Importantly, the word “elote” translates as “corn cob” — and that’s important because it make this one of the <em>most unique Mezcals</em> we’ve tasted so far. The Spirit starts with 100% pure Espadín Agave piñas. But Aquilino adds a small amount of<em> fresh roasted corn</em> from his own farm into the mash. The addition transforms the Spirits with a smoky, corn note that speaks to the terroir and culture of central Oaxaca. And it’s bottled strong at <em>51.2%</em> ABV.</p>
