<p>Montagny Tete de Cuvee, Domaine Berthenet, Cote Chalonnaise Blanc, Burgundy, France, 2023Grape: 100% Chardonnay, 6.75ha vineyard on clay/limestone soil, 25 year old vines, sustainable farming, matured in steel vats plus a small proportion in large used barrelsProducer Tasting Note:Golden in colour. An explosive bouquet of white flowers with aromas of honey, beeswax and gingerbread. The palate confirms the nose! A very elegant and floral Burgundy with a fresh acidity. 3-7 years’ ageing potential.The Domaine: The Berthenet estate is located in Montagny les Buxy, a typical Burgundian village. The family has been cultivating vines for about four centuries. Jean-Pierre Berthenet, initially in close collaboration with the Buxy cooperative, chose to make his way in 2002 by vinifying his own production. With his son François at his side since 2009, he watches over the 18 hectares of the estate which includes vineyards in six of the “Premier Cru” vineyards of Montagny. The majority of plots are planted from grafts from mass selection, grown in Berthenet’s own nursery. Also made by Berthenot are an Aligote, Cremant de Bourgogne and a red Givry 1er Cru (Pinot Noir).Food Match: This cuvée will accompany Bresse chicken and other white meats.and makes an enjoyable aperitif.
