<p>This crisp, dry white has plenty of citrus and floral notes on both the nose and palate, a fresh, lively acidity, is balanced by a flavoursome palate, with subtle mineral undertones. There is a saline flicker at the end which might remind one of a good Muscadet. </p><p>The grapes for this one were vinified separately, left on their lees to undergo malolactic fermentation and finally blended and bottled eight months later, without fining or filtration.</p><p>Anna Martens and Eric Narioo, the husband and wife team behind Vino di Anna, are breathing life into Etna’s ancient vines. In 2022, in order to spend more time with Anna’s family in Australia, the couple started a small organic wine project in the Adelaide Hills, called “Nord-Sud”. Renting space in a friend’s winery in Basket Range, they have invested in clay vessels, used puncheons and small stainless-steel tanks. They source only organic grapes from a range of sites in and across the Adelaide Hills. Fermentation is spontaneous, conducted by indigenous yeasts, no chemicals or additives are used.
