<p>Quirky supreme Rum from India.</p><p>The <em>Mohan Meakin</em> company has a meandering history going back to the <em>19th</em> century, when two British brewers tried to bring good beer to India. Eventually their enterprise evolved into a multi-faceted firm, also producing Spirits. Their Rum selection includes five different <em>Old Monk</em> expressions. This vanilla-forward iconic vatted dark rum is on the market since <em>1954</em> and you’d be hard-pressed to find a commercial for it. It used to be the biggest Indian made foreign Liquor, and it’s supposed to be created by the legendary Indian distiller <em>Ved Rattan Mohan</em>. Their most popular Rum is the <em>7YO XXX Rum</em>, but the quirkiest one is definitely the <em>Supreme</em>.</p><p>It comes in a <em>monk-shaped</em> bottle with a detachable head that hides the cork. It’s a <em>molasses</em> distilled Rum with no age statement, although it is said to be matured for at least <em>12 years</em> in oak casks in the tropical environment of India. Despite the lack of ads, <em>Old Monk Supreme Rum</em> is the <em>second best-selling</em> dark Rum in the world. It’s an <em>excellent choice</em> both for casual sipping or mixing it in a cocktail.</p>
