<p>Grape variety:100% Pinot Noir.Production area:hillside vineyards in Graun near Kurtatsch (800 – 850m a.s.l.) and in Montan (400 – 550m a.s.l.). Soil: chalk gravel moraine soil in Graun and loamy alluvial moraine soil in Montan.Yield: 60 – 70 hl per hectare.Vinification:fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks; malolactic fermentation and maturation in small and large oak casks for 8 months :ruby red with a deep garnet sheen, this wine has a delicate bouquet of blackberries, raspberries and cherries. It is smooth and full-bodied, showing balance and elegance on the palate, and has both youthful force and pedigree. Today Christof and his wife Sabine stand behind the name Castel Turmhof winery. Their aim is to blend the traditions of many years with new and innovative developments. Thus, the preservation of the character of the grape varieties, and of the high quality of the grapes themselves, remain the basic principle of the work in the vineyards and the cellars. Altogether 25 hectares of vines are owned and cultivated by the Tiefenbrunner family. They also purchase grapes from surrounding vineyards with a total cultivated area of 40 hectares.
