<p><em>The Rum Journey from Guatemala to France. </em></p><p>Plantatation Rum offers a <em>diverse range</em> of Rums from the Caribbean. Depending on the plantation and the <em>country of origin</em>, the Rums can vary between soft and aromatic to light and elegant. The distilled Rums are usually aged first in ex-Bourbon casks and then finished at the <em>Cognac Ferrand</em> (their owners) estate in barrels where Cognac or Sherry was matured before.</p><p><em>Plantation Guatemala Gran Anejo</em> is a blend of Rums from Guatemala, which were produced from <em>sugar cane juice</em>, not molasses like most Rums. Sugarcane juice-based Rums tend to be <em>grassier</em>, more <em>pungent</em>, and with heavier <em>alcohol aromatics</em>, which you either love or … you don’t. The Rum was distilled in a short column still, and aged first four years in <em>Bourbon casks</em> in Guatemala. After it was transferred to <em>France</em>, to the estates of Cognac Ferrand for a further 5 months of maturation in <em>Cognac casks. </em>Plantation Guatemala Gran Anejo is not as suave and smooth as other Guatemalan Rums like Zacapa and Botran, but the <em>light roughness</em> is actually part of its overall charm.</p>
