Pommard Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy, FranceGrape: 100% Pinot Noir, in transition to organic farming, wild yeast ferment, 18 months’ ageing in French oak barrelsProducer Tasting Note:The wine has a beautiful, glossy ruby red color. On the nose, the wine is quite elegant and fruity at first, with cool nuances of currants, raspberries and freshly picked strawberries. With aeration, the wine develops more exotic and bold fruit tones. The taste is crisp and structured, with a nice, rounded tannin and good ageing potential. It is a charming Pommard, something that is rare! The Bouzereau family in Meursault (Côte de Beaune) has been growing wine in the area for nine generations since the 18th century. In 1995, Philippe Bouzereau bought the famous Château de Cîteaux and concentrated his activities with wine growing and production at the domaine. In 2006, after completing his wine studies in Beaune and some years of practical experience with wine in Beaujolais, Australia and New Zealand, his son (who is also called Philippe) took over the company with the then 16 ha. vineyards, mainly located in Meursault but also a little in the neighboring municipalities. The family has always grown the grapes according to the principles of Agriculture Raisonnée (integrated cultivation), and uses exclusively its own clones. This promotes the terroir in the wines – a priority that is also practiced in the cellar, with as little intervention in the vinification as possible and a modest use of new wooden barrels. In 2015, Philippe Bouzereau switched to organic cultivation on the currently 18ha vineyards, and from the 2022 vintage the first wines will be certified organicFood Match: Serve with lamb, game birds and hearty meat dishes (e.g. a boeuf bourguignon) as well as with classic Burgundy cheeses.Pommard Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy, France
