<p><em>Only the best barrel-aged Dominican Rum goes in to Ron Bermudez 12 Aniversario, so only the best comes out of the bottle. </em></p><p><em>The Rums of the Dominican Republic</em> are ruled by <em>“Three Bs,” </em>Bermudez, Barcelo, and Brugal … three companies that control the vast majority of <em>Dominican Rum</em> output. <em>Bermudez Rums</em> are all made by J. Armando Bermudez & Co, founded in <em>1852 </em>and based in Santiago de los Caballeros. The company is still run by the <em>Bermudez family</em> to this day using the same production methods. </p><p>Over the years they have expanded production to include a dozen Rum varieties and locally available Gins, Vodkas, Whisky, and liqueurs.</p><p><em>Ron Bermudez 12 Aniversario </em>is the top of the line product coming out of Bermudez. Yes, technically it is a blend, but while some blended spirits are cobbled together jalopies… hideous Frankenstein Monsters of left-over bits and pieces from our drinks … that is so NOT this Rum. This is a blend of all the <em>best barrels </em>from across <em>Bermudez’ Rum </em>inventory. Only the best goes in, so only the best comes out. </p><p>This is a <em>barrel-aged Rum, </em>but you may notice that there is no age statement on the bottle. Frankly, that’s because they just don’t know how old it is. But since this is a hand selected, limited edition gleaned from the other Rums that are <em>12YO</em> and older, let’s just go with <em>12YO</em> and call it good. And “call it good” is exactly what you will do. This is a keeper. <em>Smooth </em>and <em>pleasantly sweet,</em> it has all of the flavor and character you want and just may be the best rum in Dominica, bar none. </p>
