<p>A wonderful, beautifully-aged, top-shelf Rum blended from Central American Spirits.</p><p><em>Karthik Sudhir </em>was an athlete in India, excelling at track and field. Then he was a software developer (we think we know where, but let’s keep that a secret). Now, he has come to his senses and devoted himself to the higher calling of developing <em>premium Spirits brands</em> to make the world a better place — thus <em>Phenomenal Spirits</em> was launched in June of 2017. Currently, the Ron Izalco brand is being <em>well-received</em> with a Rye Whiskey brand slated for release later in 2020.</p><p><em>Ron Izalco 10 Year Old</em> is the first — and so far only — release from both Izalco Rum and Phenomenal Spirits. But what matters is that this fine Rum is a<em> blend of premium Spirits from Central America</em>, built upon a base of sugarcane-based<em> El Salvadoran Rum</em>. The blend has aged for a full decade in ex-Bourbon casks and is bottled at a pleasant 43% ABV. It strikes a <em>great balance</em> on the delightful palate — it’s not overly sweet — with rich tones of pipe tobacco, exotic fruits, and spice. In its first year of release, this fine cane juice has taken multiple <em>Gold </em>and <em>Double Gold Medals</em>.</p><p><u>Smartass Corner:</u><em>“Izalco” is a stratovolcano in El Salvador on the flanks of the Santa Ana Volcano. It erupted almost continuously from 1770 through 1958, building up to a height of 6400 feet. It is considered a national symbol of the country and even appeared on the currency until 2001.</em></p>
