<p>Founded in 1990 by Angelos Rouvalisand today run by his daughter Theodora and her husband, Antonio Ruiz Pañego, the two oenologists cultivate both indigenous and international grape varieties. They produce authentic, harmonious, and value-oriented wines that express the unique terroir of the slopes of Aigialeia. In the northern Peloponnese, in the mountainous region above Aigion, the vineyard sits between 500 and 1050m above sea level. They are uniquely beautiful, with terraced vineyards overlooking the Corinthian Gulf. The fertile soil is well drained due to the inclination of the hills and the vines benefit from the east-west mountain ridge of the central Peloponnese which acts as a natural barrier against hotter winds from the south. With an important differential in temperatures between day and night, which creates the perfect conditions for growing high-quality fruit in a hot climate. Finally, the slopes are very steep and near to the sea, and the air currents prevent diseases developing, creating conditions favourable to organic viticulture. The Slopes of Aigialeiaare situated in the northern Peloponnese -just 120km from Athens-in the mountainous region above the town of Aigion. They are one of the very few north-facing regions in Greece, so the vines benefit from the cooling northern breezes of summer. Lagorthiis aforgotten variety indigenous to Kalavryta. The organic vineyard is at an altitude of 840m. above sea level. The vine plot is located inthe region of Koutsourain mountainous Aigialeia, on abrupt slopes facing north, in poor and infertile soil of ideal mechanical composition, which drains well. All activities relating to cultivation are carried out by hand and yields do not exceed 30hl/ha.100% gravity flow production, skin contact fermentation, sur lies aging 50% in tank and 50% in old barrels and amphorae. The grape-picking is done by hand using small crates. In 2021, it took place towards the end of September, in excellent climatic conditions. The grapes reached the winery in a healthy and perfectly mature condition. After the raw material was sorted, Lagorthifermented on the skins during 25 days at low temperatures (13–17°C) After fermentation was complete, the wine aged sur lie in a stainless-steel tank with batonnageand in clay amphorae for about 4 months. At all stages of the winemaking process, from the moment the grapes are received to the bottling, natural gravity flow is used.A crystalline, light, elegant white wine, it combines an intense minerality with notes of citrus, ripe pear, Greek wild herbs and freshly cut hay.
