<p>Ravishing Rhum from Réunion</p><p>The <em>Isle of Réunion</em>, situated east of Madagascar, isn’t a huge island, but it has three big and famous <em>Rum-making establishments</em> to be proud of: Riviere du Mat, Isautier, and <em>Savanna</em>. The latter was founded back in <em>1870</em> when France wanted to diversify sugar production (translation: they wanted more of that lovely Rhum juice). Savanna makes a complete range of Rums: light, traditional, agricoles, and Rums of various ages.</p><p>This particular expression is a <em>beast of </em><em>feast</em>. It’s a traditional <em>Rhum</em> (molasses-based) and it spent seven long years in oak. It was bottled at cask strength (or as the French call it – Brut de Fut), while the entire production took place at the <em>Savanna distillery</em>. It’s an intriguing amber Spirit that caught the tropical soul of the island, underlining it with a<em> potent punch</em>.</p>
