<p>A surprisingly good 100% Rye Whiskey — from Germany — made in a historic distillery. </p><p>About forty miles southeast of Berlin is located a lovely park called the <em>Spreewald </em>— a wetland reserve criss-crossed with canals and marshes fed by the <em>Spree River</em>. This is also home to the oldest distillery in Germany — the <em>Spreewald Distillery</em>. Three friends who owned a media agency together drove down to sample Whiskey there in 2015, and when the then-owner mentioned that he was looking for a successor, they sold their agency and<em> launched a new dream. </em>After significant updates and a new Whiskey still, they began to release their signature Spirits under the <em>Stork Club brand. </em></p><p><em>Stork Club Straight Rye Whiskey </em>is their heart and soul and most awarded Spirit to date with <em>four Gold</em> and <em>Double Gold Medals</em> so far. It is made from local German rye and malted rye — so you will taste only the pure grain. It has been aged in a combination of casks — <em>American oak, Napoleon oak, ex-White Wine, and ex-Sherry.</em> The result is a surprisingly great Rye Whiskey at 45% ABV in the <em>old American style,</em> but with decidedly<em> European aging.</em></p>
