<p>Tenuta Serranova Susumaniello, Vallone, Salento IGP, Puglia, Italy, 2022Grape: 100% Susumaniello, 20 year old vines, 10ha vineyard on sand/clay soil, 50% aged in large old oak & 50% in concrete vatsA nose of wild herbs and spicy dark fruits. Robust and richly flavoured with baked plum, black cherry and bramble fruit on the palate, and notes of brown spice and toffee on the finish.Susumaniello is a traditional Puglian variety, native to the Brindisi region and recently rediscovered. Vallone are one of the pioneers of this juicy, characterful grape and have 10 hectares planted on their Tenuta Serranova estate.The original castle, Castello di Serranova, built in 1350, was enlarged in the 1600s into an agricultural estate which was purchased by the Vallone family in the 19th Century. It is now run by Vittoria, Maria Teresa and Francesco Vallone under organic priciples.
