The nose is a cornucopia of aromas, from blackberry and blueberry jam, to dark chocolate and coffee, up to the potpourri of dried flowers and carobs. The mouth is warm, intense, with great persistence and elegance. All the aromas perceived by the nose return, plus a persuasive liquorice aroma at the end. Vibrant tannins.</p><p>Powerful, muscular but at the same time fine and elegant, this Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG “Carapace” from Tenuta Castelbuono strikes precisely for these characteristics that are not always easily traceable in a single wine. And instead this Sagrantino wins the challenge of harmony, with its complex but clean aromas on the nose, powerful but persuasive in the mouth, which close on a still vibrant tannin, in the integration phase. A great wine that matures for 24 months in large barrels, and the remaining 12 in the bottle, which takes its name from the cellar, Carapace, an admirable work by Arnaldo Pomodoro. </p>
