<p> That boutique-y rum company Engenho Novo Da Madeira Column Still Batch No.1 3 YO (50CL, 53.5% Vol.) </p><p> The first batch of Engenho Novo da Madeira rum bottled by that Boutique-y Rum Company is here! This expression comes from a distillery in Portugal founded by a descendant of William Hinton, a well-known sugar producer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In fact, you can see William Hinton (and his little dog) on the label, as he observes all the rum production processes. This expression is three years old, and was curiously made from an ex-Amarone wine barrel! </p><p><p> Tasting notes </p><p> Aroma: Mango, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, subtle floral notes of rose lingering in the background. Palate: Still plenty of vanilla, although there’s now the richness of maple syrup in the mix.
