<p>It’s no secret: this is a Sherried pinnacle.</p><p><em>Macallan</em> is one of those companies one associates with hedonism, opulence and redefining luxury. In existence since <em>1824</em> and <em>older than revolvers</em>, they have some mileage of <em>experience</em> in their holster, and a taste for unrepeatable Spirits to match. Macallan is the apex purveyor of <em>finer things</em>, the Lebron James of distilleries, so it was no surprise when they released a sumptuous Scotch with a hue of a Spanish sunset, and it turned out to be nothing less than splendid.</p><p><em>Macallan’s Enigma</em> is one-fourth of the Quest collection, together with <em>Quest, Lumina </em><em>and</em><em> Terra</em>. It’s exclusively drawn from European oak Sherry seasons casks, and its character is exactly what one expects: rich, intense, Sherry-forward, oak-driven excellence of Speyside.
