Ventisquero Grey (Glacier) Single Block “Trinidad Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon, Valle del Maipo, Chile, 2020Grape: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot & 3% Cabernet Franc, hand harvested, 18 months’ ageing in French oak barrelsThis Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vineyards planted in 1998, one of the first at the Fundo Trinidad estate in the west of the Maipo Valley, in what is known as coastal Maipo. Very much in the Grey line, this has soft tannins, ripe fruit, spicy tones, and a layer of herbal aromas that lend a touch of freshness to this elegant, subtle, and very well-balanced CabernetA non-traditional style of Cabernet Sauvignon, revealing the typical characteristics of the variety but from a very elegant perspective. In place of the classic robustness, in this wine you can discern the subtle notes of chocolate, tobacco and black pepper, together with the fine French oak, which gives it a long, smooth finish..Critics’ Tasting Notes:”Red wine made mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Despite a warmer year like 2020, it shows ripe red and black fruits at just the right point, surrounded by floral, herbal and spicy notes. Pleasant to drink and easy to please, it has firm, fine-grained tannins, refreshing acidity and a persistent finish, with earthy touches of plums, blackberries and licorice. Alcohol 13.5%”92/100 points, REVISTA ADEGA (Brazil), April 2023″Cumin spices, dark olives and some cedar and currants on the nose. A tense and elegant cabernet sauvignon that carries the polished tannins well. Long finish. Delicious now, so why wait? 92/100 pointsJames Suckling, August 2022Food Match: Red meats and mature cheeses.Ventisquero Grey (Glacier) Single Block Trinidad Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Valle del Maipo, Chile, 2020
