Playful dried apricots, and ripe vineyard peaches in all their summer glory, loads of crunchy yellow fruit mingle with a touch of red fruit. A wine of verve and movement, with the nimble energy of a dancer swathed in layers of flowing, silken sweetness. Beautiful balance of power and cool delicacy with salty, mineral depths, and the mouthwatering appeal of grapefruit pith and orange juice on the finish. Rising up like an enormous steep mountain face, the Kanzemer Altenberg (VDP.GROSSE LAGE®) vineyard enjoys a perfect south-south-easterly orientation. Like all von Othegraven terroirs, it is characterised by Devon shale soil, which, in the Altenberg location, contains traces of iron-oxide that lend the ground a red sheen.
