A delightfully sweet citrus-forward Gin with a creamy texture and effervescent lightness.

John James Whitley Neill comes from eight generations of distillers, and he’s a direct descendant of Thomas Greenall. If you are reading this from just about anywhere in the UK, you might instantly recognize that the Greenall name has been associated with distilling in England — Gin in particular — for 250 years. As a child, he happened upon a cache of bottles in his grandmother’s storage, all full and labeled with the family name. This experience inspired him to take up the family tradition. And things are going well so far.

All Whitley Neill Spirits are distilled in a small-format, 100-year-old, copper-pot still — the oldest operating still in the UK. They shun the “continuous distillation” process that ramps up volume, choosing to start and finish one batch at a time.

Whitley Neill is famous for breaking conventions in Gin-making. They were one of the first to step outside of the “London Dry Box” that held the Gin-drinking world in a cage of conformity for decades. Whitley Neill Pink Grapefruit Gin is one of their most delightful examples.

They say that this Gin was inspired by “The citrus groves of Spain,” and that makes sense. Sure, there are plenty of juniper berries in the mix to satisfy the Giniest of Gin-snobs. But then the botanical mix opens up with Iberian pink grapefruit, sweet oranges, lemon zest, lime blossoms, balm herb, clove, and chamomile over a base of more traditional Gin botanicals, including coriander, cassia, angelica, and licorice.
